“A clock ticks
for all of us, silently, somewhere. And one is ticking even for Him. Soon
Father Time will be free.
To return to
Earth.
And finish what
he started.“ – The Time Keeper, Mitch Albom
All of us have a
clock in us. An invisible clock that times our every movement here on earth.
Whether we like it or not, it ticks away. The clock simply tells us our time on
Earth, and how long till our Savior returns. We have a responsibility, a
mandate, a call to fulfill before that clock stops.
In Acts 1v7,
Jesus gave His disciples an instruction before He ascended back to Heaven. And
that instruction was to be witnesses for His name (Christ) both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remote parts of the earth. But
before they do that, Jesus assure them that The Holy Spirit is all they need to
fulfill that.
In Acts 1v11,
God sent two angels to speak to His disciples after Jesus’s ascension. The
Bible tells us that His disciples were starring into the sky. I believe God
wanted to remind His disciples of the mission, mandate, and call, which He just
gave them before He ascended. As I was reading it, I could picture myself in
the story with God basically saying, “Why are you starring in the sky, don’t
you have work to do?”
The truth is, we
all have work to do. No, I am not referring to jobs or studies, but a mission
that God has given to us individually. We are called to be witnesses. We are called
to spread and share the love of Christ to everyone.
The Father has
his own clock as well. His clock tells Him of His return. Whether we like it or
not, he is returning. He will establish a new heaven and a new earth. But until
then, we have got work to do.
